The Qualifications have been created to develop and reward the teachers of aquatic programmes of today and the future, and to continue to bring recognition and professionalism to the teaching sectors. The rationale of the programmes is to provide a career path for learners who wish to develop their teaching capabilities within the aquatic sector. The Award will link to key development in areas of teaching aquatics. Contemporary issues are identified and evaluated so that the learner has a true vocational understanding on the industry as well as an academic perspective.

  • Teaching Diving Practice in Learn-to-swim Programmes
  • Teaching Survival and Lifesaving Practice in Learn-to-swim Programmes
  • Teaching Swimming Practice to Adults in Learn-to-swim Programmes
  • Teaching Practice for Adults Transitioning to a Masters Swimming Programme
  • Teaching Swimming Practice to People with Disabilities
  • Principles of Swimming Participation for Improving Well-Being and Mental-Health

 

  • Preparing learners to progress to a qualification in teaching swimming but at a higher level and enhancing more specific knowledge, skills, understanding and experience
  • Preparing learners for lead swimming and aquatics programme in the workplace
  • Supporting other employees in the workplace to become more skilled reflective practitioners

 

 

  • Be at least 16 years of age at the time of registration for the qualification
  • Hold the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) or Safety Training Awards (STA) Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming / Aquatics
